POSITIONINCLUSIVE EDUCATION FACILITATOR (11-Month)

 

LOCATION Special Education Department

 

POSITION SUMMARY:  The Inclusive Education Facilitator position for the Calvert County Public Schools encompasses a wide variety of duties and responsibilities.  The primary function of the Inclusive Education Facilitator is to ensure that teachers and other school-based staff (Pre-K - 12) are provided with the appropriate staff development, resources, and support necessary to offer students a full continuum of educational opportunities.

 

REPORTS TO:  Director/Supervisors of Special Education

 

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:

At the time of application, the candidate must have or be eligible for:

  1. A Master’s degree or equivalent required.
  2. Certification in special education or general education.
  3. At least five years of successful teaching experience (satisfactory evaluations) with a focus on inclusive practices required.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS: (These are pre-employment knowledge, abilities and skills that apply to the Essential Job Functions.)  At the time of application, the candidate must have:

  1. Deep knowledge of Danielson’s Framework for Teaching.
  2. Knowledge of the Maryland College and Career Ready Standards.
  3. Knowledge of instructional best practices and strategies, UDL, Co-teaching models and Inclusion Best Practices.
  4. Demonstrated skill in differentiating program and instruction to meet the varied needs of learners.
  5. Knowledge and experience with the special education process.
  6. Knowledge and experience working with students with various disabilities.
  7. Evidence of broad reading and knowledge in professional literature and research related to inclusion, co-teaching, learning processes, and differentiation.
  8. Demonstrated ability to collect and analyze student achievement data for instructional decision-making.
  9. Demonstrated exceptional skills in written and oral communication.
  10. Demonstrated ability to relate effectively to students, teachers, staff, parents, and community members.
  11. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with adult learners.
  12. A valid driver’s license and motor vehicle insurance.
  13. Demonstrated success in accomplishing tasks akin to the responsibilities listed below.
  14. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Calvert County Public Schools may find appropriate and acceptable.
  15. Demonstrated abilities to utilize and promote equitable practices in all facets of education.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  1. Providing support to teachers, administrators, supervisors, and directors in their efforts to provide a full continuum of instructional programming options for students.
  2. Providing staff development opportunities to teachers, administrators, supervisors, and directors as it relates to inclusion, co-teaching, the continuum of special education services, and improving instructional programs for all students.
  3. Providing on-site coaching to staff and students.
  4. Facilitating collaborative planning for general educators and special educators.
  5. Modeling specifically designed aspects of inclusion.
  6. Collaborating with parents, students, and school staff to develop and implement Individual Education Plans for students with disabilities including the development and improvement of accommodations/modifications to create access to the general education setting and curriculum.
  7. Serving as the liaison between consultants contracting with CCPS and CCPS staff on the topics of inclusion, co-teaching, instructional strategies and special education.
  8. Under the direction of the Director of Special Education, perform duties related to the writing and monitoring of specific grants in accordance with the Special Education Department’s goals.
  9. Collaborating with supervisors from the Departments of Instruction and Special Education to improve instructional programs for all students.
  10. Collaborating with school personnel and families to implement, monitor, and sustain inclusive practices.
  11. Thinks, concentrates, and interacts with others.
  12. Comes to work promptly every day.
  13. Works flexible hours as necessary.
  14. Works under stress and meets all deadlines.
  15. Travels from school to school as necessary.

 

OTHER DUTIES:  (Duties listed are not intended to be all inclusive or limit duties that might reasonably be assigned.) Performs related work as required or assigned by the Director of Special Education and/or Supervisor(s) of Special Education.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDSPosition requires traveling between schools and may require significant periods of standing and walking and is performed in a typical school environment.  Work may require physical as well as psychological confrontations with aggressive students; training in Non-Violent Crisis Prevention and Intervention required.

 

UNUSUAL DEMANDS:  May be subject to a flexible work schedule.

 

FLSA STATUS:  Exempt

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Eleven (11) month position and salary commensurate with qualifications and experience applied to the current Calvert County Public Schools salary schedule for teachers.  All employees are encouraged to have automatic payroll deposit.

 

EVALUATION:  Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the policy on evaluation as established by the Calvert County Public Schools.

 

EFFECTIVE DATE OF POSITION:  2024-2025 School Year

References must be directly related to work experience and must include current immediate supervisor.

 

State law requires that anyone hired after October 1, 1986, who will have contact with school children, must be fingerprinted and submit to a criminal background investigation. Federal law requires that a new employee must complete the Employment Eligibility Verification (Form I-9) in person before beginning employment. Employment is conditional upon successful completion of a drug screen. Current employees of the Calvert County Public Schools are exempt from these requirements.
