POSITION:  SUMMER MEAL PROGRAM CAFETERIA MANAGER (GRAB 'N GO PROGRAM)              

LOCATION: Calvert High School and Distribution Sites (Windy Hill Middle School and Southern Middle School)

 

DATES: June 24 - August 14, 2024

 

HOURS6.5 Hrs. per day; 2-3 days per week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday)

 

SALARY: $20.14 per hour, based on the 2023-2024 Workshop Pay and Special Pay for  Employees. 

 

POSITION SUMMARY

Oversees and assists with the preparation/assembly of Grab 'n Go meal kits and distributes kits/milk at multiple assigned locations.

 

REPORTS TO:Supervisor, Child Nutrition Program

 

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS: (These are pre-employment knowledge, abilities and skills that apply to the Essential Job Functions.) At the time of application, the candidate must have:

  1. High school diploma, possession of a general education development (GED) certificate or Maryland high school certificate of attendance
  2. Ability to perform basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division)
  3. Knowledge of food services and sanitation procedures
  4. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment 
  5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as Calvert County Public Schools may find appropriate and acceptable
  6. Demonstrated success in accomplishing tasks akin to those responsibilities listed below

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  1. Works rapidly and efficiently in performing tasks
  2. Works effectively with school personnel and members of the community
  3. Safely operates and cleans all kitchen equipment established in the cafeteria
  4. Applies and maintains high standards of sanitation and personal hygiene
  5. Stores food and supplies in accordance with instructions and takes weekly inventories
  6. Maintains proper food safety in compliance with local health department regulations
  7. Prepares and serves food using proper portions in accordance with district, state and USDA regulations
  8. Assists with loading trucks for Grab 'n Go meal distribution
  9. Distributes meals at assigned Grab 'n Go locations
  10. Attends staff development training
  11. Assists in all areas of the school food service program as directed
  12. Thinks, concentrates, and interacts positively with others
  13. Comes to work regularly and promptly
  14. Works under stress and meets all deadlines
  15. Ensures that all activities conform to district guidelines

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  

  1. Exerts moderate physical effort, including lifting and carrying food items and objects weighing up to fifty (50) pounds.
  2. Frequent reaching and bending.
  3. Standing and walking on hard flooring for long periods of time.
  4. Operating commercial food service equipment.
  5. Working around a wide range of temperatures commonly found in a commercial kitchen environment.
  6. Working with commercial chemical cleaning agents.
    moderate physical effort, including lifting and carrying food items and objects weighing up to fifty (50) pounds.

UNUSUAL DEMANDS

  1. May need to use personal vehicle for travel, depending on distribution site assignment.
  2. May need to drive county-owned vehicles.
  3. Will need to work outside at a food distribution sites, in varied weather conditions.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Temporary summer position

 

EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the policy on evaluation as established by the Calvert County Public Schools.
