NOTICE OF VACANCY

POSITION:  ELEMENTARY SUMMER SCHOOL – TEACHER AND COUNSELOR

 

LOCATION:  To be determined

 

POSITION SUMMARY: CCPS expects to have vacancies in grades K – 5 for General Education, English Language Learners, Special Education, Related Arts, Fine Arts, and Physical Education Teachers, and Counselors in regional schools (BAES, BES, DES, SES, and SLES) for an elementary summer school program. 

  • Summer school will be an integrated experience focusing on skills needed to access the curriculum in the next grade.
  • Elementary summer school will occur in regional sites, BAES, BES, DES, SES, SLES and ALL instruction will be in-person.
  • Elementary summer school for staff will begin on June 24, 2024, and run through July 25, 2024. Summer school staff will work 4.25 hours per day, Monday through Thursday, to include 30 minutes of planning.
  • Elementary summer school for students will begin on June 25, 2024 and run through July 25, 2024. The student day will be approximately 3.75 hours, Monday through Thursday.
  • Instruction will occur in the areas of Social Emotional Learning, Integrated Language Arts, Mathematics, and Enrichment.
  • Staff will be required to attend a 6-hour pre-service day for professional learning and to set up the summer school classroom.
  • Staff will be allocated an additional 4.5 hours to complete data collection, parent reports and close-out procedures.

Applicants for these positions must agree to abide by safety protocols due to COVID-19. Protocols may include but are not limited to: wearing a mask, practicing social distancing, frequent hand washing, and cleaning of instructional materials. 

 

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:

At the time of application, the candidate must hold or be eligible for: 

  • MSDE Certification preferred for teachers, required for counselors.
  • Current college students pursuing a degree in English, Science, Social Studies, Math education or special education will be considered.
  • Instructional assistants and substitute teachers will be considered.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: The pay rate is based on the 2022-2023 Workshop Pay and Special Pay for Employees.

References must be directly related to educational experience and must include immediate supervisor.

 

State law requires that anyone hired after October 1, 1986, who will have contact with school children, must be fingerprinted and submit to a criminal background investigation. Federal law requires that a new employee must complete the Employment Eligibility Verification (Form I-9) in person before beginning employment. Employment is conditional upon successful completion of a drug screen. Current employees of the Calvert County Public Schools are exempt from these requirements.

 

House Bill 486 – Child Sexual Abuse and Sexual Misconduct Prevention Statement

Pursuant to Section 6-113.2 of the Education Article, Annotated Code of Maryland - House Bill 486 - Child Sexual Abuse and Sexual Misconduct Prevention all applicants are required to report all former employers in which you may have had direct contact with minors. The applicant must submit the contact information of the current employer, all former school employers, and all former employers not school related. Applicants should also include contact information for organizations in which you have volunteered, coached, mentor, tutored or otherwise had direct contact with minors.
