POSITION:           Multimedia Specialist Apprentice

 

LOCATION:           Calvert County Public Schools, Office of Communications, Administrative Services

                             Building located at 1305 Dares Beach Road, Prince Frederick, MD 20678

 

POSITION SUMMARY:  Individuals participating in the CCPS Office of Communications apprenticeship program are provided with an opportunity to gain important job skills, explore a career path in the communications field, and obtain professional experience to help build portfolio.

 

REPORTS TO:  Chief of Communications

 

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. Preferred focus on multimedia, marketing, communications, photography, journalism, and/or related coursework.
  2. Approval to participate in the Maryland Apprenticeship Program offered by CCPS.
  3. Must be a current Calvert County Public Schools Student, minimum age 16.

 

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS:

  1. Effective oral, written, and presentation communication skills.
  2. Excellent customer service skills.
  3. Ability to work independently and on a team.
  4. Experience using design and video editing software such as Adobe Creative Suite and Canva.
  5. Intermediate proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  6. Experience with posting on social media platforms.
  7. Familiarity with DSRL cameras.
  8. Must have driver’s license and reliable transportation.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS, DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Tasks may include the following:

  1. Create materials such as publications, flyers, and other materials.
  2. Pitch and craft stories that highlight CCPS students and staff.
  3. Assist with CCPS Office of Communications events.
  4. Take photographs and video at CCPS assigned events.
  5. Support social media content creation to include copy, graphics, and video.
  6. Edit video highlights and upload to District YouTube Channel.

 

OTHER DUTIES: Some evenings and weekend work may be necessary to cover events and activities.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Position may require periods of standing and walking, lifting up to 25 pounds, and occasional outdoor work. At least 50% of work hours, the individual will be working indoors at computer desk located in office environment. Some occasional travel within Calvert County.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  1. Participation in CCPS Apprenticeship program required.
  2. Salary $15.00 per hour.
  3. Flexible hours dependent upon assignments and course schedule.
  4. Duration: January 2024 – June 2024 (could extend through August)

 

FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt

 

EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the policy on evaluation as established by the Calvert County Public Schools.

Employment is conditional upon successful completion of a drug screen. Current employees of the Calvert County Public Schools are exempt from these requirements.
